Opened on December 20, 2023, the Warm Springs Enhancement Project greatly improves skier circulation on the mountain, allowing skier traffic to flow over a wider area of skiable terrain. The upgrades improve lift quality, efficiency and sustainability and provide multiple options for accessing the mountain from the Warm Springs area.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the grand opening of the new Challenger and Flying Squirrel Chairlifts at Warm Springs Base Area! After a remarkable 36 weeks of dedicated work, we’re thrilled to show off the new Warm Springs experience and to see your smiling faces on the lifts throughout the winter season.
In the last week of the Warm Springs Enhancement Project, the Mountain Ops Teams are concluding the project by conducting weight and safety tests on the new lifts. This marks the final step before we open the lifts for guests to enjoy an upgraded Bald Mountain experience!
Entering Week 34 of the Warm Springs Enhancement Project, our Mountain Ops teams are working to attach the chairs to the lift, marking the final stages of this monumental project and bringing us closer to opening day at Warm Springs.
As we enter Week 33 of the Warm Springs Enhancement Project, our Mountain Ops teams are in the final stages, applying the last electrical touches and gearing up to install the chairs later this week and into the next, with a projected opening date in mid-December.
In week 32 of the Warm Springs Enhancement Project, our Mountain Ops Team is focused on preparations for the upcoming chair installation scheduled for next week. This will mark a significant milestone in the project, bringing us steps closer to completion!
In week 30 of the Warm Springs Enhancement Project, our mountain ops teams are conducting weight testing on the new chairs, ensuring they meet the highest safety standards. Simultaneously, they're finalizing the power connections for both lifts to bring us even closer to the finish line!
In week 28 of the Warm Springs Enhancement project, the Mountain Ops teams focused on the meticulous installation of the lift cable for the new Challenger lift, bringing us steps closer to project completion!
During week 27 of the Warm Springs Enhancement Project, the team tackled placing the Flying Squirrel lift cable and guiding it up the hill through the new lift towers. Additionally, they made significant progress placing the lift shack at the base of the new Challenger lift.
During Week 26 of the Warm Springs Enhancement Project, the team's primary objective centers around the completion of the mid-station lift shack installation. Their goal for the upcoming week is to install the squirrel haul rope.
Week 25 of the Warm Springs Enhancement Project brings significant progress on the new Challenger mid-station terminal and site. Additionally, this week marked a major project milestone as the Flying Squirrel lift top terminal was successfully assembled.
Week 24 of the Warm Springs Enhancement project marks a significant milestone as the Mountain Ops teams have successfully completed the construction of all the new lift towers. Additionally, they continue to make remarkable progress on the Challenger mid-station and the top Flying Squirrel terminal.
The Mountain Ops Teams continue making strides as they enter week 21. Their focus is working through the final stages of the Challenger and Flying Squirrel top terminal construction and continuing backfilling excavated areas surrounding the Challenger mid-station.
Entering week 20, the Sun Valley Mountain Ops teams have completed the construction of all lift towers for the new Challenger lift. Following this feat, the team is now utilizing a specialized drive train system to transport materials and complete the construction of the Challenger top terminal.
Rolling into week 19, the Challenger base terminal and first three lift towers are officially completed! Looking forward, our Mountain Ops teams have focused on utilizing a crane to help assist in building the Challenger top terminal and finish building the new snowmaking guns on the Flying Squirrel extension.
As we push forward into week 18 of the Warm Springs Enhancement Project, the construction of the cutting-edge Challenger and Flying Squirrel terminals is beginning to take shape. Stay tuned for the unveiling of these new terminals, promising an even more seamless and thrilling mountain escapade at Sun Valley Resort.
On the docket for week 17 of the Warm Spring Enhancement Project, our Mountain Ops teams have continued securing the bases of the top terminal stations with concrete as well as making notable progress building the Base terminals.
The Sun Valley Warm Springs Enhancement Project has made significant progress in its 15th week. Construction of the new Challenger & Flying Squirrel Terminals is quickly progressing and our Mountain Ops teams continue poring concrete throughout the new lift towers and terminals.
Over the last 2 weeks, our Mountain Ops teams have had assistance from the Black Hawks to continue pouring concrete for the Challenger lift towers. The crew also continues to make progress on the assembly of both the Challenger and Squirrel terminals.
This week, our Mountain Ops teams have been hard at work completing more concrete work at the terminal bases as well as making progress in building the bottom terminal of the new Flying Squirrel lift, and the top terminal of the new Challenger lift.
Our Mountain Ops teams focused on pouring concrete for the base of the top Challenger terminal this week and beginning to assemble the new Flying Squirrel lift towers for installation next month.
Our Mountain Ops teams have worked on tree stump removal, to make room for the installation of the new lift towers. Our teams also continue pouring concrete at the top of the new Flying Squirrel lift.
The helicopters returned to Bald Mountain to remove the remainder of the lift towers off the top of the mountain to the upper Warm Springs lot. The teams also began work on transporting the concrete bases for the bottom terminals.
